Black Friday Donations in support of the Trussell Trust
Between April to September 2020 'the trussell trust' gave out 1.2 million food parcels through food banks to people in crisis, 470,000 of these parcels went to children. That's why this year we have chosen to donate 100% of our black Friday profits to them.
So, who are the Trussell Trust? They support a nationwide network of food banks providing emergency food and support to people locked in poverty. In addition they campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK by challenging the structural issues that lock people into poverty.
Currently more than 14 million people in the UK live below the poverty line, and this winter food banks are expecting to give out an emergency parcel every 9 seconds. 670,000 more people in the UK are at risk of being pushed into destitution this winter, unable to afford even just the basics in life.
What can I do to support them? The charity believe that together we can all build and fairer society where everyone has enough to afford food. But whilst we all focus on campaigns the trust need your help either through financial or food donations, corporate partnerships, fundraising challenges, and volunteering opportunities are just some of the ways you can help. Please see their website here for more information on how you can join their movement.
in the meantime if you shop with us on Black Friday (27th November 2020) instead of offering discounts, we will be donating all our profits from the day to the Trussell Trust. If you still have some Christmas gifts to purchase or you want to treat yourself to a little gift after the full-on year of covid, then please do shop with us next Friday and help us raise some funds for an incredibly worthwhile cause.
