It’s on the news, on the TV shows we watch and most certainly all over our newsfeed. Mental Health is something that quite rightly is on everyones radar. Finally we are in a position to discuss mental health without any stigmas or shame. And it’s so important we do just that, talk and not shut ourselves off.
So why is our mental health so important?
There are so many reasons, our mental health affects every aspect of our lives. It influences how we think, feel, and behave. It impacts our ability to cope with the challenges and stresses of daily life.
Mental health and physical health are definitely interconnected. Poor mental health can lead to physical health problems, such as chronic pain, headaches, and digestive issues. When we feel good it improves our emotional well-being too, such as increased happiness, contentment, and resilience in the face of adversity. Therefore reducing the risk of developing mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse disorders.
The more we look after ourselves the more we stay focused, motivated, and productive at work or school. It can also help us achieve our goals and manage our time more effectively.
And it’s not just the effect on ourselves, good mental health can improve our relationships with others, including family, friends, and colleagues. It can help us communicate more effectively, empathize with others, and build stronger connections.
